46th Ward Blood Drive: Saturday, March 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What: Alderman Cappleman/CPD 19th District Blood Drive
Where: 19th District Police District’s Community Room, 850 W. Addison Street
When: Saturday, March 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Saturday, March 31, I am hosting a blood drive that I cannot participate in. Although there is currently a critically low supply of blood in the region, I and most gay and bisexual men cannot donate. I urge all those who are eligible to come out and donate blood, not only to address a critical shortage, but also to stand in solidarity with those who are not allowed.

Right now, our region’s blood supply is critically low because of an aggressive flu season. Now is the perfect time to donate blood and to highlight the fact that low blood donations could have a simple solution: lifting the discriminatory ban for gay and bisexual men.

To donate blood or volunteer at the event, please sign up here.  If you have questions, please contact Lexi at Lexi@James46.org, or 773-878-4646.
